About Us

Our story

Fluxx grew out of a simple observation: something important was missing from the wellbeing conversation.

The world of wellbeing is crowded with quick fixes, polished positivity and one-size-fits-all advice. At the same time, there’s a persistent gap between what research tells us works and how those insights are applied in real life.

Before founding Fluxx, Berni and Nic worked together in higher education with their most significant project being the co-creation a wellbeing strategy at a large university, supporting the psychological health of 50,000 students and 10,000 staff.

Through this work they saw both the potential and the challenges of translating evidence into real-world practice and how difficult it can be to create wellbeing initiatives that are meaningful, effective and not simply performative.

Fluxx grew from a decision to take everything they had built professionally and apply it in new ways: creating practical, evidence-based tools that acknowledge the complexity of the human experience.

Our approach

Our approach is evidence-based without being academic, empathetic without being preachy, and practical without being simplistic.

We focus on translating psychological research into ideas and tools that feel relevant, usable and genuinely helpful in real life.

What we believe

We believe meaningful change happens when insight, context and practical tools come together.

Psychological wellbeing isn’t about perfect habits, constant optimisation or pretending life is easy. It’s about understanding ourselves more clearly, working with the realities of our lives, and building the resources and environments that support us through change.

The people behind Fluxx

Fluxx was created by Berni Cooper and Nicole Border, who bring complementary perspectives from psychology, education and public health.

Berni and Nic work from very different places - and that’s the point. Their partnership acts as a testing ground: ideas are questioned, stress-tested and adapted until they become tools for change that work for people in flux.

Berni Cooper

MAPP, BSC Hons (Psych), SFHEA

Berni works with people and organisations navigating moments of change, when existing ways of thinking and working no longer quite fit.

With a background in psychology and applied positive psychology, and over two decades in leadership, adult education, and wellbeing strategy, Berni specialises in helping people make sense of complex inner and organisational shifts and translating insight into action.

Her work sits at the intersection of evidence, creativity, and practical implementation. Berni brings a questioning, optimistic lens, helping people connect the dots, clarify what matters, and build the confidence to act with intention. She is known for creating learning experiences that are thoughtful, engaging, and grounded in respect for people’s agency.

Nicole Border

MAPP, MHSci, BA Hons (Psych)

Nicole brings a public health and systems perspective to psychology, with a long-standing interest in how environments shape behaviour. She has worked across universities, government, and community organisations in Australia and internationally, designing wellbeing strategies that operate beyond the individual.

Trained in psychology and health promotion, Nic focuses on creating conditions that support sustainable health - socially, organisationally, and physically - without relying on individual optimisation or constant self-management. Her work is grounded in prevention and creating enabling environments for good heath.

Nic is known for her depth of perspective, quiet insight, and dry humour.
